Hashihar Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Middle Qilian (north-central Gansu-Qinghai border region). The Hashihar Fm was named by Qian Jiagi et al. in 1981. The typical section is located in Hashihar to Yaodong valley (Shibao Township) in Subei County, Gansu Province.
Synonym: (哈什哈尔组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Hashihar Fm is dominated by gray, grayish purple and black sandy slate, siltstone intercalated with sandy limestone, fine-grained quartzose sandstone, tuffaceous siltstone, slate, and pyroclastic rock, with thin-to medium- bedded rhythmic successions. The thickness varies from 379 to 937 m: in north it is 749 m, at Chaganburgas 680 m, and eastward to Wugeshan area with the increasing of pyroclastic rock it is 937 m. Upper-middle formation in Gongcha Gr.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The lower part rests conformably on the underlying Wugeshan Fm
Upper contact
The upper part is conformably overlain by the Yaodonggou Fm
Regional extent
Middle Qilian (north-central Gansu-Qinghai border region). The Hashihar Formation is distributed in North Qilian and Middle Qilian, including Yaodong valley, Daliugou, Dagongcha, Gulangxia (in Subei, Gansu) and Wugeshan in Tulai pasture (in Qinghai).

Fossils
The Hashihar Formation yields abundant microplants, dominated by Trematosphaeridium holtedahlii, Trachysphaeridium incrassatum, T. simplex, T. cf. rugosum, T. cf. stipticum, Asperatopsophosphaera partialis, Pseudozonosphaera verrucosa, Lophosphaeridium gibberosum, etc. and stromatolites Gymnnosolen f. etc.
